In The Greenhouse and Shed This March

Start ventilating greenhouses and cold frames on warm sunny days. Don’t forget to move plants from the greenhouse to a cold frame for at least 7 days before planting out into the garden. This allows them to harden off.

Give your wooden shed a spring clean before the sowing season really kicks off.

Be vigilant for greenhouse and houseplant pests, such as mealy bugs, and treat straight away.

Whether you’re sowing annuals, bringing on bedding plants or potting perennial cuttings, now’s a good time to start filling the greenhouse with your favourite garden flowers, giving them a good start before you transfer them into garden beds, pots or hanging baskets for the summer.

Top Tip:

Make a planting plan. It’s always good to have a rough plan of what you want to grow and when. That way, you can get the most from your greenhouse and any outdoor space you may be using for planting out.
