March
In The Greenhouse And Shed This March
Start ventilating greenhouseS and cold frames on warm sunny days.
Give your wooden shed a spring clean before the sowing season really kicks off.
Build a compost bin before the growing season gets underway. If you already have one, check to see if ther is any compost ready to use on vegetable beds. Move bags of compost into the greenhouse to warm up for a week or two before using for sowing.
Whether you’re sowing annuals, bringing on bedding plants or potting perennial cuttings, now’s a good time to start filling the greenhouse with your favourite garden flowers, giving them a good start before you transfer them into garden beds, pots or hanging baskets for the summer.
Be vigilant for greenhouse and houseplant pests, such as mealy bugs, and treat straight away
Top Tip:
Make a planting plan. It’s always good to have a rough plan of what you want to grow and when. That way, you can get the most from your greenhouse and any outdoor space you may be using for planting out.
